Welcome to Mood & Spoons
A gentle, neuroaffirming way to notice how you feel and where your energy goes.
Use spoons to describe what uses energy and what restores it.
Review activities, trends and reports when it feels useful.
You can check in when it suits you. You do not need to record every feeling or activity for your entries to be meaningful.
Tracking mood and emotional energy
Mood check-ins
Use the 0–10 scale to record how you feel at the time of your check-in. Your entries can help you reflect on changes and possible patterns.
Emotional Energy and spoons
Your spoon count is a personal estimate of the emotional energy you have available. Activities may use energy, while rest or other helpful experiences may restore it. Your own experience is the best guide.
Activities
Record activities that feel relevant to your day and note whether they use or restore your emotional energy.
Reminders
Reminders can help prompt a mood or emotional energy check-in. The reminder times can be adjusted to suit your routine.
- Check that notifications are allowed for Mood & Spoons in your device settings.
- Check that the relevant reminder is switched on and its time is correct in the app.
- Check that your device is not suppressing notifications through Focus, Do Not Disturb or a similar mode.
- Close and reopen the app. If the issue continues, restart your device.
History, insights and reports
History helps you look back at saved mood check-ins and activity entries. Insights helps you review summaries and trends in the information you have recorded.
Reports and exports can help organise your records into a summary or file that you can keep or share with a health professional if you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to common questions and troubleshooting tips.
The app is not loading or looks out of date. What should I do?
Check your internet connection, then close and reopen the app. If you are using the web version, refresh the page. If it still looks out of date, close the browser completely and open the app again.
My reminder notification did not appear.
Check notification permissions for Mood & Spoons in your device settings. Then check that the reminder is enabled and the time is correct in the app. Focus or Do Not Disturb settings may also silence notifications.
Why can’t I see my entries on another device?
Entries are kept on the device you use unless you sign in and choose to use account sync. If you have not enabled sync, another device or browser will not automatically have those entries. Keep a separate backup as an extra precaution.
My records seem to have disappeared. What should I do?
First check that you are using the same device and browser or app installation as before. Do not clear website data, uninstall the app or reset the device while you are investigating. If you have a JSON backup, use the app’s import option to restore it. If you use account sync, check that you are signed in to the account you used previously.
How do I back up or move my records?
Use the app’s export or backup option to save a copy of your records. Keep the file somewhere private and secure. Before changing devices, uninstalling the app or clearing browser data, make sure you have a backup you can access.
Can I share my mood and emotional energy report?
Yes. Use the report or export options in the app to create a summary or file you can choose to share, for example with a psychologist, psychiatrist or another health professional. Review the report before sharing it.
Do I need to complete every check-in?
No. Use Mood & Spoons in a way that feels manageable. You can record a quick check-in, add activities when useful, or take a break from tracking whenever you need to.
Does Mood & Spoons provide medical advice?
No. Mood & Spoons is a personal reflection and wellbeing tool. It does not diagnose conditions, provide medical advice or replace care from a qualified health professional.
Your information and privacy
Your entries are stored on your device unless you choose to sign in and use the app’s optional account sync. They are not automatically shared with other people.
- Keep a separate backup of records you want to preserve.
- Store exported files somewhere private and secure.
- Before changing devices, uninstalling the app or clearing browser or website data, export any records you want to keep.
- If you use another device or browser without syncing, your local entries may not be available there.
